New Features on Google Shopping and What They Mean For You

Google ShoppingGoogle Shopping is always shaking things up, which can be good and bad. Back when it was free, Google Product Search updates and development was slow-paced at best. Today, however, developers over at Google Shopping are working hard to create new apps and such. Development and progress is always good. But it can get bad if you’re left behind, confused with these new features.

That’s where we come in. It’s not good to be confused by the new features of any product or service you actively use, particularly Google Shopping. Below are three of the latest features rolled out by Google Shopping, and what they mean for you:

Shortlists

Shortlists are sure to add more loyalty to Google Shopping. Basically, shortlists help you “capture ideas as you shop,” as Google’s site proclaims. With a shortlist, users can add products from around the web to their Google Shopping shortlist, and even compare various products. Shortlists even allow users to invite and share ideas and opinions with friends and families. What this does is encourage users to stay within the Google Shopping world, meaning your products can benefit.

Catalogs

Google Catalogs allows shoppers to browse and shop all their favorite catalogs in one place. For you, the merchant, you can add spice to your catalog by embedding videos, and more, to encourage more user interaction. In order to benefit from this you’ll have to upload your PDF catalogs through the Google Catalogs Center. You can then annotate each page with products from your Google Merchant Center feed, videos from YouTube, and other rich media content.

360° Product Images

No one wants to be limited by a computer screen. And in today’s world, we don’t have to be. Google gets it, which is why they’ve added 360-degree capabilities to merchant products. This means users can see a product in every angle, which to date has shown to propel sales for many products.

Now what?

Now that you know about these latest features, what can you do next? You may want to add 360-degree images, but don’t know how. Or, you want to know how you can make the most of your catalogs. Perhaps you’re wondering how to benefit from a user’s shortlist habits. The point is, knowing is half the battle (sorry G.I. Joe). The other half is “doing.” But doing isn’t always so straightforward or easy. That’s where we come in.
